James is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan

James was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA but spent many summers through out the 1940s in Berwind.  His father was an auditor for the Berwind White Coal Company and met his mother on one of his business trips to Berwind.  The photo of the Duncans' was taken at their home near Tazawell, VA which they had purchased a few years before Mr. Duncan retired.

Labe, as most of us knew him,  married Jessie Lee Henry 
and they resided in Berwind their entire lives. 
They lived across the alley from Dr. Lovus Office.
